Mayor Edwin M. Lee today signed legislation to send a $350 million Public Health and Safety Bond to the June 2016 ballot. The initiative will expand access to mental health services for San Francisco residents, including homeless people living on the streets, and seismically upgrade and strengthen the City’s vital public health care facilities and emergency medical response infrastructure to ensure their viability after a major earthquake. Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today participated in a hearing of the House Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Water & Power, which examined the impact of drought on California’s water supplies for the coming year. The hearing also considered environmental requirements that federal agencies like the National Marine Fisheries Service claim prevent Californians from easing water rationing, despite a far wetter winter than the past several years.
