Rep. Doug LaMalfa, House Committee Examine California’s Water Supply for 2016

Richvale, CA – (RealEstateRama) — Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today participated in a hearing of the House Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Water & Power, which examined the impact of drought on California’s water supplies for the coming year. The hearing also considered environmental requirements that federal agencies like the National Marine Fisheries Service claim prevent Californians from easing water rationing, despite a far wetter winter than the past several years.

“It’s becoming more clear every day that California’s water supply infrastructure is no longer being operated to provide cities and farms with water, but to support vague, unachievable environmental goals. It appears that federal wildlife agencies are demanding water suppliers divert more water away from cities and farms, even though the drought has eased significantly,” said LaMalfa. “While these agencies insist that fish populations are crashing, they don’t even gather data during the high water periods when salmon most commonly migrate. Rather than improve their data collection and planning, they simply demand ever-more water for pet projects, even as Californians across the state are forced to ration.”
