State Parks Announces Deadline for the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program

-

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks today announced the application deadline for the $15 million nationwide Land and Water Conservation Fund’s Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program (ORLP) – Friday, Apr. 15, 2016.

The 2016 ORLP targets acquisition and/or development projects that will create or reinvigorate parks and other outdoor recreation spaces located in jurisdictions with a population of 50,000 or more according to the 2010 Census. The program prioritizes projects located in economically disadvantaged, underserved communities with insufficient parks and recreation resources. Project proposals must also meet priorities identified in California’s 2015 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.

The maximum grant request for each project is $750,000. For this nationwide competition, each state may recommend up to two projects to the National Park Service. State Parks will recommend two projects from California by May 20, 2016. The National Park Service expects to announce grant awards by October 2016. At least 20 projects will be selected for funding throughout the country.

The application guide for ORLP is available at www.parks.ca.gov/lwcf. The guide provides information about eligible applicants, application requirements, and project evaluation criteria. California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services will conduct a technical assistance conference call for eligible applicants on Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2016 from 9 to 11 a.m. To RSVP for the conference call, please contact Loretta Christensen at (916) 651-9592 or via e-mail at Loretta.Christensen (at) parks.ca (dot) gov.
