House Passes Legislation to Improve Water Supply Management

Key Assembly Committee Votes for 100% Renewable Electricity by 2045

The California Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy voted today in favor of a critical bill that will put California on the path to independence from dirty fossil fuels. Senate Bill 100, authored by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León, will accelerate California’s current mandate to achieve 50 percent of its electricity from renewable sources from 2030 up to 2026; it will also establish that California will generate 60 percent renewable electricity by 2030 and 100 percent by 2045.

Napolitano Welcomes $300,000 Water Grant for San Gabriel River Project

Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) congratulated the San Gabriel River Water Committee on being awarded a $300,000 Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART Drought Resiliency Project Grant it received for the construction of a new river gate inlet structure near the existing Azusa-Duarte Tunnel Inlet on the San Gabriel River. About 10 people die from unintentional drowning every day, but it can easily be prevented by educating children and adults about water safety and lifesaving techniques.

Rep. Cook’s Jobs and Conservation Bill Passes House of Representatives

The House of Representatives unanimously passed HR 497, the Santa Ana River Wash Land Plan Exchange Act. This bill, which is authored by Rep. Cook (R-Apple Valley) and co-authored by Rep.
