California Assembly Passes Critical Climate Change Bill with Bipartisan Support

the California State Assembly took major steps forward in the fight for a cleaner, healthier future for all by passing Senate Bill 350. Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de León’s SB 350 requires 50 percent of the state’s electricity to come from renewable sources and doubles energy efficiency in buildings, both by 2030.

Man Charged With Swindling More Than $200,000 From 92-Year-Old Woman

A Detroit man has been charged with stealing roughly $225,000 from an elderly woman he befriended after she signed over her apartment complex to him, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Carlson Alyn Jackson (dob 11/24/55) was charged with three counts of grand theft from an elder and one count of offering a forged instrument in case BA439441.

Solar Industry Applauds Passage of SB 350

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today praised the passage of California’s Senate Bill 350, the leadership of the bill’s sponsor and champion, Senate President pro Tem Kevin de Leòn, and Gov. Jerry Brown, who earlier this year set out the ambitious vision of meeting 50 percent of the state’s electricity needs with renewable energy. In addition to increasing energy efficiency in buildings, the bill increases the state’s Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) to 50 percent by 2030.

WITH TEMPERATURES ON THE RISE, CITY ISSUES SPARE THE WATER ALERT

The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities announces a Spare the Water Alert through Saturday, September 12. Spare the Water Alerts are typically declared when three consecutive days of 100+ degree temperatures are forecasted. With these extreme temperatures over the week, the City is asking customers to cut back on their non-essential water use, only water on their scheduled watering days, and to water only before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m.

Water-Efficient Landscape Improvements at City’s Transit Maintenance Facility

Already a LEED-gold certified site, the City of Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility has completed construction for its Landscape Improvements Project which improves the facility’s landscape and water use.
