Napolitano Welcomes $300,000 Water Grant for San Gabriel River Project
Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) congratulated the San Gabriel River Water Committee on being awarded a $300,000 Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART Drought Resiliency Project Grant it received for the construction of a new river gate inlet structure near the existing Azusa-Duarte Tunnel Inlet on the San Gabriel River. Napolitano requested in a February 2017 letter that the Bureau of Reclamation support the Committee’s grant application. Her full letter can be viewed here.

With the long holiday weekend upon us, California State Parks is alerting water enthusiasts to take life-saving precautions for themselves and their loved ones. Drowning is the fifth leading cause of accidental death in the United States. About 10 people die from unintentional drowning every day, but it can easily be prevented by educating children and adults about water safety and lifesaving techniques.
Rep. Cook’s Jobs and Conservation Bill Passes House of Representatives
The House of Representatives unanimously passed HR 497, the Santa Ana River Wash Land Plan Exchange Act. This bill, which is authored by Rep. Cook (R-Apple Valley) and co-authored by Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-San Bernardino), authorizes an exchange of land between the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District (SBVWCD) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
