C.A.R. installs 2017 Leadership team
The CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) today installed its 2017 Leadership Team. Leading the team is C.A.R. President Geoff McIntosh, a 30-year real estate veteran and broker in Southern California. New award recognizes California leadership in zero net energy schools
California is leading the nation in the transformation of K-12 schools and community colleges to zero net energy (ZNE) performance. To honor early innovation and leadership in this market, nine inaugural ZNE School Leadership Awards were given on behalf of the California Investor owned Utilities Prop 39 ZNE School Pilot Program to showcase the people, buildings and districts that are driving this new standard for school environments. ZNE schools are high performance buildings that combine energy efficiency and renewable energy resources to produce at least as much energy as they consume annually.

A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for manufacturing an explosive device in his mobile home in Anaheim while streaming on Facebook Live. Jeff Edward Reece, 34, was charged on Nov. 1, 2016, with one felony count of possession of an explosive, one felony count of possession of a destructive device in a private habitation, and one felony count of attempted arson of an inhabited property, and a sentencing enhancement for a prior felony conviction for assault in 2011 in Oregon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.

Mayor’s Office Completes Transfer of Public Housing to Community-Based Management
Mayor Edwin M. Lee announced the completion of the historic transfer of ownership of all 29 public housing sites and nearly 3,500 units from the San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA) to community-based affordable housing teams as part of the Mayor’s 2013 Re-Envisioning Public Housing Plan and the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD).

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced legislation co-sponsored with Supervisor David Campos that will allow fees from residential developments of 25 units or less to remain in the neighborhood where the new development is built. The fees will be allocated to purchase buildings where long-term tenants are at risk of being evicted due to market pressures and then make those units permanently affordable housing.

A man was charged with trespassing yesterday after jumping into the ocean and a pool from private property in Laguna and Newport Beach and posting videos of the incidents on YouTube. Anthony Booth Armer, 28, Laguna Niguel, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of unauthorized entry of a dwelling and one misdemeanor count of trespassing with intent to interfere with business. His arraignment date and time are to be determined.
Officials Warn of Flash Flood Potential as Rainy Season Begins in California
Flood and fire officials from the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), CAL FIRE and the National Weather Service (NWS) warn that weather and land conditions across California increase the potential for flash flooding during the rainy season now under way. Five years of drought conditions have exacerbated wildfires across the state. Rain is beginning to fall on fire burn scars, making these areas prone to sudden erosion along roads and through neighborhoods.
