Walters Supports WIIN Act, California Drought Language

Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) released the following statement regarding the Water Infrastructure Improvements Act for the Nation (WIIN) Act conference report, which authorizes resources for ports, waterways, and flood protection and importantly, includes long-overdue language to address the California drought:

“This legislation will improve ports, waterways, flood protection, and other water resources infrastructure across the country. Notably, the WIIN Act will help alleviate the California drought by providing much-needed water to the state’s communities and businesses. The drought provisions will help boost our economy while providing resources for water projects such as storage, desalination, conservation, efficiency, and recycling. While a great deal of work remains, this bill will put us on the right path.

“Inclusion of this language in WIIN would not have happened without bipartisan and bicameral cooperation. I would like to especially thank Senator Feinstein, Chairman Shuster, Chairman Inhofe, and Chairman Bishop for their leadership on this bill. I urge my colleagues to support the WIIN Act when it comes to the House floor for a vote later this week, and I remain committed to finding solutions that will provide long-term drought relief for all Californians.”

Walters represents California’s 45th District and serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.
