Two Pircher, Nichols & Meeks Associates Recognized as Outstanding Young Lawyers by LACBA
Torrance, CA – June 5, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Daniel B. Guggenheim and Leslie D. Reed, two associates from the national real estate law firm Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, were honored with the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award at the 14th Annual Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) Real Property Section Installation and Awards Dinner, which was held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 30. Two out of the three recipients of the prestigious award are from the Los Angeles office of Pircher, Nichols & Meeks.
“The recognition of our associates by the LACBA reflects not only their individual accomplishments, but also the firm’s collective success and the quality of our practice,” said Stevens A. Carey, a founding member of Pircher, Nichols & Meeks. “Both Danny and Leslie have shown dedication to our firm and the high standards we strive to maintain. They truly are outstanding lawyers and individuals within their respective communities, and they deserve to be recognized as such.”
Recipients of the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the real estate industry and the community. Besides having achieved recognition within the legal profession, those recognized are also involved in speaking engagements; have a general publication of written work on legal issues; are successfully involved in high profile, complex transactions; and present unique approaches to resolving transactional or litigation obstacles. The recipients give time and talent to the community at large as well.
Guggenheim, who joined the firm in 2007, is an associate in the firm’s real estate department. He has experience representing mortgage and mezzanine lenders, commercial and residential developers, and opportunity and hedge funds in all aspects of transactional real estate, including acquisitions and dispositions, loan originations and workouts, development projects and joint ventures.
The co-author of “Important Issues in Purchasing and Resolving Distressed Real Estate Debt,” published in the BNA, Inc. Real Estate Industry & Law Report, Guggenheim is active in the legal community and has given numerous presentations to real estate professionals. He has been a co-chair of the USC Law School Young Alumni Committee, a mentor in the USC Law School Alumni Mentor Program and a member of the USC Law School Annual Fund Executive Committee. Guggenheim has also served on the Columbia University Alumni Representative Committee as well as the Harvard-Westlake Real Estate Network and The Center for Early Education Alumni Council.
Reed joined the firm in 2005 and is an associate in the real estate, leasing and development, and land use practice areas. She represents commercial developers, institutional investors, and lenders in all aspects of transactional real estate, including complex property acquisitions and dispositions, leasing (office, retail and solar/wind), REAs, entitlements and other land use issues, and related transactions.
Reed has served on the Executive Committee of the LACBA Real Property Section for several years, where she has been the vice-chair of the Leasing and Development subsection since 2011. She also has sat on the steering committee for the annual Benjamin S. Crocker Symposium since 2009 and was appointed the vice-chair of the 2012 conference. An active member of Commercial Real Estate Women’s Los Angeles chapter (CREW-LA), the group recognized Reed with its Women on the Rise award in 2011. She was also invited to serve on the 2012 CREW-LA Board as Communications vice president, where she works to advance the group’s visibility and brand recognition within the real estate community.
“Working with the exceptional attorneys at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks and having their continuous support and wisdom available to me on a daily basis has made this award possible,” said Reed.
Guggenheim added, “I am very honored to receive such positive reinforcement for the hard work, commitment and outreach to the community Leslie and I, along with our other associates at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, do on a daily basis.”
