Funds Will Provide Housing for Disabled Families Throughout Sacramento
WASHINGTON, DC – July 8, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05) today announced $878,784 in federal funds for low-income housing initiatives has been allocated to the Sacramento region. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will provide $878,784 to the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency through the Housing Choice Vouchers Program to provide housing for local disabled families.
“I have heard from many Sacramento families throughout the past year that are struggling to keep a roof over their heads,” said Congresswoman Matsui, “Many of whom are burdened during this volatile economic time. I am happy to announce this grant will provide for those most affected during this period. With unemployment rates continuing to rise, this funding could not have come at a more crucial time.”
This funding comes from HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher program and is designed for non-elderly families with a disabled person. In Sacramento County there are over 1,800 families with a disabled individual seeking affordable housing.
