WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 23, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — WHAT: Join Recreation and Parks, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, Third District, Tony Hawk, community members and skateboarders for the opening of the Lanark Skate Plaza. Professional skateboarders will perform a demonstration session led by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.
The new street-style plaza features rails, hubbas, ledges, transitions, gaps, banks, stair sets and quarterpipes. The facility spans approximately 14,000 square feet.
Lanark Skate Park is the first skate facility to be built in Council District 3, and the 26th managed by the Department of Recreation and Parks. This is the second skate project to be completed in partnership with the Tony Hawk Foundation.
Skateboarding has proven to be a great cardiovascular workout and is another way the Department is showing a commitment to the community to provide alternative forms of outdoor fitness. Improvement were made possible through a partnership with the Office of Councilman Bob Blumenfield, Third District, and the Tony Hawk Foundation.
