WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 16, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Joining thousands of Californians eager to fulfill our nation’s promise to returning Veterans, Mercy Housing California, a leading non-profit housing development corporation, will publicly announce their endorsement of California’s Proposition 41 at their newly built El Monte Veterans Village on Monday, June 2 at 1 p.m.
The Veterans Village currently houses 40 previously homeless veterans and is a showcase for what can be achieved throughout the state if the Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Bond Act passes. Current Village residents will speak how affordable housing has helped get their lives back on track after returning from service.
Opened in March of this year, El Monte Veteran’s Village is a landmark collaboration between Mercy Housing California, New Directions for Veterans and the City of El Monte. The brand new, three-story development created 40 affordable studio apartment homes for chronically homeless veterans, including a rich suite of onsite support services. The community is 100% leased up and occupied by formerly homeless veterans.
Invited guests will include Mercy Housing and New Directions executives, veterans currently living at El Monte Village, and local officials who partnered with Mercy Housing to make the El Monte Veterans Village a reality, including the Mayor and City Council.
