Torrance, CA – April 10, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Joan Frei, senior vice president and director of business development for Nadel Architects, has been promoted to state program chairperson for the Southern California chapter of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Frei will manage the overall annual calendar for the region, coordinating with local program and next generation chairs, as well as assisting with the development of new regional programs.

“We are located in one of the most active retail markets in the country, and it’s critical that we have representatives that are entrenched in the retail arena,” explains Ken Hira of Kosmont Companies and state director for Southern California ICSC. “She is dedicated to the industry and ICSC, has a strong organizational aptitude and knows how to manage a team of professionals, all of which allow her to handle the demands and responsibilities for the So Cal region.”

Frei has been a member of ICSC for over 15 years. Previous leadership roles within ICSC have led to her current appointment as Southern California state program chair, including Southern California local programs (May 2008) and Southern California program committee chair (May 2011).

In addition to her involvement with ICSC, Frei is on the advisory board for ACRE Southern California and is a past ACRE president. She is an active member of the legislative committee for CBPA, is active in CREW and ULI, and participates in many other real estate industry events.

A shareholder and a member of the board of directors, Frei originally joined Nadel Architects in 1999 as director of business development for Nadel’s Retail Division. She currently leads Nadel’s marketing and business development efforts firm wide, including Nadel’s Retail Division in all five offices.
