JIM KELLY TO HEAD SAN DIEGO OFFICE OF CT REALTY INVESTORS
SAN DIEGO, CA – August 16, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — CT Realty Investors Corp. of Aliso Viejo, Calif., (www.ctrealtycorp.com) announced that longtime San Diego real estate veteran Jim Kelly has joined the company as managing partner and executive vice president of the company’s San Diego Division. Kelly will head up the company’s San Diego regional operations located at 10650 Treena St., Suite 111, in San Diego.
Kelly will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new real estate opportunities for investment, development and redevelopment in the greater San Diego area and Inland Empire with a focus on office, industrial and multi-family assets.
With more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and investment, Kelly brings a wealth of industry insight, leadership and expertise to the company. Prior to joining CT Realty, he served as president of Emerald Venture Group Inc., a San Diego-based real estate development company founded by Kelly in 1999. Emerald’s primary emphasis has been the entitlement and development of upscale, recreation-oriented residential communities. One of the company’s many accomplishments was the re-entitlement of Aliso Viejo Golf Club in Aliso Viejo, Calif., in which Kelly joint ventured with the property owner and acted as managing partner responsible for all aspects of planning, entitlement, implementation and asset disposition. His firm also completed $25 million in improvements at the golf club, including rerouting the golf course and constructing a new clubhouse, conference center and aquatic center.
Kelly has developed a number of other real estate projects as well, including brownfield industrial site revitalizations and large-scale historical, commercial rehabilitations. His project portfolio includes more than $500 million in current and completed development projects in ten states.
James “Watty” Watson, president of CT Realty, said that the addition of Kelly will enhance the company’s investment and development activity in San Diego, allowing it to respond even faster to potential opportunities in the marketplace.
“We’ve maintained an active presence in San Diego since our establishment in 1994, and believe that market is poised for incredible growth and opportunity,” Watson said. “Jim is a well-respected professional and will provide us with the type of ‘home court advantage’ in San Diego that we need to respond as quickly as possible in this highly competitive market. His unique background spans a broad range of real estate investment, development and redevelopment activities and we believe he is an excellent fit for our organization.”
A licensed realtor and general contractor, Kelly is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Design-Build Institute of America and a past member of the National Golf Course Owners Association. He is a resident of La Jolla, Calif., and is active in a number of child-focused philanthropic organizations.
