Hahn Announces Grants to Prevent Homelessness Among Veterans

-

San Pedro, CA – July 18, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — This morning, Congresswoman Janice Hahn announced $1.95 million in grants to local organizations fighting to prevent homelessness among our veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs grants were made as part of their Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. The People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) and the Salvation Army received renewal grants to continue their programs that serve more than 700 households throughout Los Angeles.

“No veteran should ever go homeless,” explained Rep. Hahn. “By partnering with local organizations, we are using federal dollars in the most cost effective way to target at risk families and get them the help they need in a timely fashion.”

Congresswoman Janice Hahn has taken a lead role in combating homelessness among our veterans. She is the author of H.R. 4287, a bill to expand the definition of “homeless veteran” to ensure veterans fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or other dangerous or life threatening situations can get the assistance they need.
