Center for Foreclosure Solutions Helps Hundreds of Families in the Wake of Foreclosure

Los Angeles, CA – December 9, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) –Saturday, December 4, 2010 was a good day for hundreds of families who waited patiently in search of help to avoid foreclosure. The Los Angeles County NeighborWorks® Center for Foreclosure Solutions (CFS) coalition, civil leaders and local volunteers teamed up at the Help & Hope Fair to assist families navigate their way through the tempestuous foreclosure process. The Help & Hope Fair, held at The Tabernacle in Inglewood, was designed to make it as easy as possible for families to receive assistance whether they need help keeping their home or hope to buy a foreclosed property. Over 1,000 individuals attended the fair and they all received a continental breakfast, beverages and lunch.

As economists continue to report mixed results regarding California’s economic future, families undoubtedly are heading into a difficult holiday season with unemployment benefits expiring and high joblessness lasting well into 2011. “We need to get the word out that free help is available to families. We can help families through this tough time if they are facing foreclosure or dream of buying a home. Despite the difficult economy those who have money saved and good credit can become homeowners,” says Mrs.

Lori Gay, foreclosure crisis expert and president & CEO of Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services (LA NHS). “We want families to call us so we can help them through the loan modification process or the home buying process. We received $60 million dollars through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help stabilize our communities by educating families and facilitating home sales to new homebuyers in the most impacted neighborhoods,” added Mrs. Gay.

Inglewood Mayor Danny Tabor spent several hours at the Help & Hope Fair speaking kindly and genuinely with families who are in financial distress. While addressing the crowd from the podium, he encouraged the families to seek foreclosure prevention counseling and was candid about his own experience with foreclosure and financial difficulties. As Mrs. Gay reminded everyone during her welcome speech at the fair, “We all know someone impacted by foreclosure. Foreclosure doesn’t discriminate.”
