Capps Announces Over $3 Million In Federal Funding For Affordable Housing in San Luis Obispo County
San Luis Obispo, CA – August 9, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Today Congresswoman Lois Capps (CA-23) announced that the San Luis Obispo County Housing Authority has been awarded three grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to ensure the availability of affordable housing, including a $1.9 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), $1.2 million HOME grant, and nearly $92,000 Emergency Shelter Grant.
“This funding is critically important to ensuring that San Luis Obispo County has enough affordable housing to meet the needs of our community, especially in these tough times. The San Luis Obispo County Housing Authority does excellent work helping our friends and neighbors provide better lives for their families, and I would like to commend them for their tireless work,” said Capps.
“This funding could not come at a more critical time. I am grateful to Congresswoman Capps for her continued support of those in our community who need a hand up to get back on their feet,” said San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill.
Community Development Block Grants and HOME grants provide state and local governments with funding to meet their own unique needs for affordable housing for low income residents and provide economic opportunities for their most vulnerable citizens. Emergency Shelter grants provide state and local governments with the resources they need to improve the quality of and expand the number of homeless shelters in their community.
