Capps Announces Federal Grants for Local Airports’ Expansion and Enhancement Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 04, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Lois Capps announced today that several local airports received federal grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation to assist with costs associated with the expansion and enhancements to the airports.  The Oxnard, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Regional Airports all recently received grants.

“This is great news for our local airports and the greater communities that they serve,” said Capps.  “The federal funding will help the airports complete important transportation upgrades and environmental assessments while maintaining their high quality of service to their passengers and employees.”

A list of the U.S. Department of Transportation Grants follows:

Oxnard Regional Airport: 

$250,000 for an environmental assessment for future airport improvements including acquisition of approximately 19.2 acres of land and relocation of Runway 25 threshold at Oxnard Airport.

$948,500 for the installation of an emergency generator and for construction to rehabilitate the apron, runway, and taxiway.

Santa Barbara Regional Airport:

$1,347,262 for construction costs associated with building a new airport terminal.

San Luis Obispo Regional Airport: 

$556,685 for construction of the terminal parking apron at the San Luis County Regional Airport.
