Capps Announces $1.4 million Grant for Peoples’ Self-Help Housing

The grants are provided to qualified nonprofit organizations and public agencies that aid working-class and needy individuals and families in building homes in rural areas. This project will provide technical assistance to help 50 families construct their homes.
Local nonprofit housing agencies like Peoples’ Self-Help Housing are doing tremendous work to help families get into stable, safe housing,” Capps said. “This grant will assist them in the work that they do making affordable housing available to more people who need it and assisting them in constructing their homes.”
“We are thrilled to have been awarded this funding, as it will enable us to assist more low and very low income families attain their dream of homeownership,” said Jeanette Duncan, Executive Director of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing.
Peoples’ Self-Help Housing operates 30 affordable housing complexes in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, provides housing for more than 5,000 low-income adults and children, and has helped more than 1,150 first-time home buyers build and purchase their first home.
