Torrance, CA – August 28, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) experienced a facelift this summer when construction manager C.W. Driver completed $20 million worth of upgrades at 10 schools located throughout the district. While budgeting and timeliness remain top priority in education construction projects, C.W. Driver was entrusted to deliver each project on time and within budget. Working simultaneously on the 10 projects, C.W. Driver completed the work in August 2012.

Part of President Obama’s American Jobs Act, a bill designed to jumpstart economic growth and job creation, these particular modernization projects were part of an overall $36.2 million given to SAUSD to provide various schools the funding for upgrades that meet 21st century needs.

“It is essential that we provide a safe, effective and well-maintained learning environment for students and staff,” said Joe Dixon, assistant superintendent of facilities and governmental relations. “C.W. Driver’s efforts have not only made our schools safer and healthier environments, but have ensured that our schools are equipped with suitable upgrades that truly shape our learning environment.”

Many of the improvements included a range of emergency repair and renovation projects to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) codes, “greening” and energy efficiency upgrades, and modernization efforts to improve new technology infrastructure such as fully-equipped Smart Boards with built-in microphones into each classroom. Managed by the company’s Irvine, Calif., office, C.W. Driver’s work throughout the district will improve the classroom learning experience and allow for the schools to continue serving as centers of the community.

“We understood the importance of the projects needing to be completed in a timely manner,” said C.W. Driver’s Dave Amundson, senior project manager. “By carefully reviewing previously designed plans and beginning construction immediately, our team was able to move swiftly through all project improvements, which were delivered in time before classroom instruction began.”

C.W. Driver’s most recently completed projects include a 75,000-square-foot medical office building located on the University of California San Diego campus; an 118,000-square-foot student recreation center at California State University, Northridge; and the company will complete six simultaneous renovation projects at the Caltech campus in Pasadena, Calif.

Upgrades and modernizations were completed at the following schools:

1. Adams Elementary School
2. Carr Intermediate School
3. Fremont Elementary School
4. Jefferson Elementary School
5. John Muir Fundamental Elementary School
6. Martin Elementary School
7. McFadden Intermediate School
