Auction.com to Host Online Charity Auction of Luxury Playhouses

-

Torrance, CA – October 2, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Auction.com, the nation’s leading online real estate marketplace, is lending its innovative online platform to Project Playhouse, a charity auction benefitting HomeAid Orange County’s efforts to build doorways for Orange County’s homeless.

HomeAid OC will auction four luxury playhouses, which are designed and built by local builders and volunteers, during its annual Project Playhouse Doorways for Hope Gala on Oct. 5 at the Balboa Bay Club. All proceeds will help the organization continue its work in providing shelter for Orange County’s homeless community.

Auction.com will simultaneously host online bidding – complete with photos and descriptions of each playhouse – at http://www.auction.com/luxury/projectplayhouse. Given that past auctions during the event’s 21 year history have sent playhouses to winners living as far away as Japan, the partnership further enhances HomeAid OC’s ability to reach bidders.

“Auction.com’s success selling luxury homes and reaching bidders around the world helps us overcome getting bidders to the live auction. Not only will this bring more excitement and a larger pool of bidders to the event, it further raises awareness of the issue of homelessness, particularly in Orange County,” said Gina Scott, director of development for HomeAid OC.

The online bidding will follow a similar format to typical Auction.com luxury home auctions. Bidders, many of whom are the same luxury buyers already familiar with the Auction.com process, will compete in a completely transparent process. They will bid against other online participants, as well as those attending the live event at the Balboa Bay Club.

“The Auction.com process and platform have sold many multi-million-dollar homes in 2012. We have seen tremendous interest in our online real estate marketplace from luxury buyers. We’re thrilled that our platform can support the great work of such an important organization and a truly delightful event,” said Jennifer Leuer, Senior vice president of the Auction.com Luxury Homes division.

Project Playhouse is an annual event that has raised $6.3 million over the last 20 years. Proceeds have helped HomeAid OC complete 49 housing developments, adding over 1,000 beds, which were gifted to 25 service providers who provide aid and shelter to homeless men, women and children
