Attorney General Becerra Responds to Department of Energy Study, Pledges to Protect Clean Energy Progress

-

SACRAMENTO – (RealEstateRama) — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today joined attorneys general from Massachusetts, Maryland, and New York in issuing the following statement in response to yesterday’s release of the Department of Energy (DOE) study on the U.S. electric grid:

“This study confirms that dirty and expensive power plants shut down when they cannot compete in the market, not because of our country’s investment in clean renewable energy.

“Requiring consumers to foot the bill to prop up climate-altering, polluting and uncompetitive coal plants is not the right way forward. The country should continue its clean energy progress, which is delivering good-paying jobs, lower energy costs, cleaner air and a safer climate.

“We will review the study’s conclusions carefully and take all appropriate steps to protect our states’ clean energy economies.”
