Through the agreement, AMS and Shell Energy will work together to identify new and existing direct access and utility customers who want to install advanced battery systems. With this innovative, forward-looking agreement, Shell Energy furthers its commitment to customer service by offering the latest in energy management, cost reduction, emergency generation and technology advancements.
“We are thrilled to be working with Shell Energy on a new fleet of hybrid-electric buildings in California,” said Katherine Ryzhaya, AMS Chief Commercial Officer. “This collaboration will allow Shell Energy customers to save money while contributing to grid modernization and resiliency.”
AMS will design, finance, build and operate the projects. Shell Energy will have dispatch rights on capacity for use in planning and market operations.
This new agreement comes on the heels of a 500MW-hour storage deal between AMS and Tesla as well as a contract signed in November 2014 with Southern California Edison (SCE) to build 50 MWs of storage in buildings to provide grid support. AMS’ first 10-MW Hybrid-Electric Building Project will be installed in Irvine, California in 2016.
