Zephyr Real Estate Continues Annual Food and Toy Drive
San Francisco, CA – December 20, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The holiday season is upon us, but there are thousands in our community that are unable to enjoy the season without a little help. Once again this year, Zephyr Real Estate is running a campaign to collect toys and food for people in need.
There are still a few days left to join Zephyr’s staff and agents in collecting donations at offices throughout San Francisco: Upper Market at 4200 17th Street, Castro at 2500 Market Street, Noe Valley at 4040 24th Street, West Portal at 215 West Portal, and Pacific Heights at 2523 California Street. Toys should be new and unwrapped. Food items should be non-perishable. Donations can be made to any of these office locations during regular business hours.
As in past years, Zephyr is working with the San Francisco Food Bank and the San Francisco Firefighters’ Toy Program who have been providing these services for many years.
“There are many reasons to give, and there are many deserving agencies and programs in need of donations, especially at this time of year,” stated Randall Kostick, Chief Operating Officer for Zephyr. “We continue to work with these two highly-venerated groups, as we do every year, to give back to our local community and make the holidays brighter for those who are less fortunate.”
The San Francisco Food Bank distributes more than 41.5 million pounds of food annually to low-income families, individuals and more than 400 local nonprofit agencies, such as soup kitchens, homeless shelters and youth programs. Food is collected from growers, packers, processors, manufacturers, the USDA and grocery stores. Food drives are an important component in amassing such quantities. Food donations may be taken to the Zephyr office locations until December 21.
The San Francisco Firefighters’ Toy Program is the City’s largest and the Nation’s oldest of its kind. It has evolved from 1949 when it served 15 families to currently distributing over 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 disadvantaged children. The Toy Program also serves community organizations, such as shelters for abused women and children, children’s cancer wards and pediatric AIDS units. The Toy Program is solely dependent on donations to the toy barrels placed in businesses around town such as Zephyr. Toy donations may be delivered to Zephyr locations until December 22.
