Teen Charged with Killing Ex-Girlfriend in Pico Rivera
WASHINGTON, D.C. — (RealEstateRama) — A 17-year-old was charged today with fatally stabbing his former girlfriend in her Pico Rivera home last Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Rory Murga (dob 4/18/99) of Pico Rivera has been charged as an adult with one count of murder in case VA142607.
The felony complaint includes a special allegation that the defendant personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime.
Murga is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Aug. 18, at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Downey Branch. Prosecutors will ask that bail be set at $2 million.
Prosecutors said Murga and the victim, Elena Lillian Moore, 16, had been in a relationship for about a year, but the teen had broken up with the defendant two weeks before the killing.
In the early morning of Aug. 12, Murga reportedly entered the victim’s home and stabbed her multiple times before he fled the area, according to prosecutors.
Following the stabbing, the victim’s mother heard cries for help, went to the aid of her daughter and called 911, prosecutors said.
Paramedics arrived at the home and pronounced the injured girl dead at the scene, prosecutors added.
On Aug. 16, authorities located Murga near Slauson and Rosemead Avenues in Pico Rivera and arrested him in connection with the killing.
If convicted as charged, Murga faces a maximum possible sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
