Classic Beachfront Home in La Jolla Lists for $12.5 Million
La Jolla, CA - October 3, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- The home of famed scientist Dr. Roger Revelle, father of the global warming theory, has been re-introduced to the market by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Linda Marrone in the Barber Tract, a well known historic neighborhood in La Jolla for $12.5 million. Originally built by Grace Scripps Clark in 1922 – whose father was the founder of the Detroit Evening News and niece of La Jolla philanthropist, Ellen Browning Scripps – the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home currently owned by the remaining Revelle family, was one of the first beachfront homes built in Barber Tract. Clark sold the home to her daughter, Ellen Clark Revelle, and her husband, Dr. Roger Revelle, in 1947.
