Late last night, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) proposed an amendment on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives calling for LGBT equality and non-discrimination provisions in federal transportation and housing programs. The amendment passed with bipartisan support on a 241-184 vote.

Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose, Calif.) announced today that two San Jose based community development organizations will receive federal grant funding totaling nearly $2.7 million for small business development and affordable housing. The two grants, each valued at $1.347 million, are being awarded by the U.S. Treasury Department's Community Development Financial Institution's (CDFI) fund to the Opportunity Fund and the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County.
Congresswoman Waters Leads Fight to Save Housing Programs
Washington, DC - March 17, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- The House of Representatives voted today to end the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), which Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) created and which President George W. Bush signed into law three years ago under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA). Last week, House Republicans also voted to end the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Short Refinance Program and the Emergency Homeowners Relief Program (EHRP), the latter of which Congresswoman Waters worked to include in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
