Drew Alan Friis, 28 (dob 3-25-83) is charged in case KA102843 with two counts of murder with the special circumstance of multiple murders, said Deputy District Attorney Martin Bean. Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty.
Friis is scheduled to be arraigned sometime after 1:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Superior Court, Pomona Branch, in Department K. He is being held without bail.
Friis allegedly attacked John Anthony Welch and Warren Jay Blagrave about 2 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 200 block of West Route 66. Friis allegedly stabbed each victim more than 20 times. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A resident who heard screams flagged down a Glendora police lieutenant, who discovered the bodies.
