SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ — Reflecting the firm’s growth and expanding horizons, SB Architects is pleased to announce the addition of three new principals to the practice. Based in the firm’s San Francisco office, Bruce Wright, AIA, Thomas Sprinkle, AIA and Mark Sopp, LEED AP embody the vision and dedication that have driven the firm’s tremendous success and growth in recent years.
For the second year in a row, SB Architects has been listed among both the fastest-growing companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the fastest-growing design firms in the United States. According to the San Francisco Business Times, SB Architects is the fastest-growing architecture practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, (“Fast 100: The Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the Bay Area, October 19, 2007”). And last month, The Zweig Letter Hot Firm Conference included SB Architects on its list of the fastest-growing architecture & engineering firms in the country.
The firm’s three new principals complement one another, contributing to the firm a balance of talents and passions that reflect the stability and strength of the firm’s second generation of leaders. They also illustrate the firm’s commitment to expanding its leadership and capabilities from within.
With over 15 years of experience designing hotels, resorts and mixed-use environments, Bruce Wright brings a well-rounded skill set to the team, providing strong leadership throughout the project cycle, and shepherding projects from initial concept through to completion. His strength in designing and managing complex projects is particularly valuable in guiding many of the firm’s mixed-use resort projects.
Tom Sprinkle brings over 20 years of experience to his role as principal of SB Architects, nearly all of them in San Francisco. As one of the primary design directors at SB Architects, Tom shares responsibility for the firm’s overall approach to design, as well as leading the design effort on particular projects. He is responsible for establishing project design concept and direction, organizing design team and client interface, and guiding teams to achieve their original design concepts.
One of SB Architects’ leading design voices, Mark Sopp contributes to the firm nearly 20 years of experience. A LEED-Accredited Professional, Mark is an advocate for sustainable design and development strategies, citing the high value of sustainable design to the long-term value of any project, as well as the important legacy a sustainable approach to design and building provides for future generations. He and Tom complement each other in reviewing and critiquing the design work produced by the San Francisco office.
In business for nearly five decades, the firm has enjoyed unprecedented growth and has experienced an exciting period of change in the past several years. The venerable design firm has seen the retirement of its founding partner, the emergence of a second generation of new partners, the birth of a new brand identity, the re-location of its San Francisco practice to a new, expanded headquarters, and the pending re-location of its Miami office to a larger space. Concurrently, it has over doubled in size and billings, and has firmly established itself at the head of the class in its two primary practice areas: hotels & resorts and urban mixed-use projects.
With a combined staff of 135 professionals in its two offices, SB Architects remains a hands-on, design-oriented practice. “We have the technical capabilities and the understanding to take even the largest projects from initial concept through construction, anywhere in the world,” says Jonathan Wyman, vice president and director of business development. “But we are a boutique practice at heart. Integrity in design, connection to the client and balance in our corporate culture are integral to our firm's identity.”
SB Architects has built a long-standing reputation for excellence in the planning and design of large-scale multi-family residential, mixed-use, hotel, resort and vacation ownership projects. The firm’s portfolio of work includes projects throughout the United States, in Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, China, Indonesia, Egypt and the Middle East. Known for site-sensitive, contextually appropriate design, SB Architects has received nearly 200 awards for design excellence.
