SAN DIEGO, CA – May 29, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) –The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) highlights its activities and its plans for the future in its 2013 Annual Report & Portfolio, released today on the SDHC website, www.sdhc.org.
The report describes SDHC’s work to create and preserve affordable housing for low-income families, seniors and individuals.
In addition, a major theme is how SDHC and the City of San Diego have become leaders in the “Housing First” model of addressing homelessness, which focuses on providing housing as quickly as possible with supportive services as needed.
A new two-year Strategic Plan, developed to help SDHC identify how it can have the greatest possible impact in the City of San Diego with limited financial resources, also is outlined in the report.
The report also details SDHC’s implementation of Path to Success, an innovative program to help SDHC’s federal rental assistance participants learn skills that will allow them to become more financially self-reliant while also allowing SDHC to serve more people in the program.
“I’m very thankful for the many public and private partnerships and the leadership in the City of San Diego that helped bring the results seen in this report,” said SDHC President & CEO Richard C. Gentry. “Together, we have made significant accomplishments with the dedication of our employees.”
For the third time, the annual report was produced as an online, multimedia publication. Its format allows viewers to hear directly from people SDHC has helped, with embedded videos containing interviews and events that show some of SDHC’s work. It will be updated from time to time and has links to reports, charts, graphics and other information for maximum transparency in government.
To keep current, activities from the first few months of 2014 are included.
The 2013 Annual Report was produced in-house by the award-winning SDHC Community Relations & Communications Department, which has been recognized for its community outreach efforts.
