Rep. Waxman Urges Governor Brown to Sign the Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Act

“AB 639 is a creative and fiscally responsible way to help end veterans homelessness in California. It allows California to keep its promise to our veterans and to California taxpayers who have already paid into Proposition 12,” said Representative Waxman . “I am proud that members of Congress from California are standing behind veterans.”
The legislation would give California voters the opportunity to vote in June 2014 to repurpose $600 million in existing Proposition 12 bond funds for the construction and rehabilitation of multifamily housing for veterans and their families. Proposition 12 currently restricts veterans to buying single family homes and farms. AB 639 would more effectively address the housing needs of veterans.
