“It’s really a win-win situation,” said Yolo County Public Defender Tracie Olson. “Who couldn’t stand to clean out a closet? And the job will seem easier knowing that the used clothing and other items will raise money to combat homelessness in our local community.”
Fourth & Hope is a local non-profit organization committed to ending homelessness in Yolo County. Its mission is to change lives by providing a continuum of care for hungry and homeless individuals and families. In addition to operating an emergency shelter, Fourth & Hope operates a family transitional housing program that assesses a family’s reason for homelessness and assists the family in securing economic independence through participation in its workforce development or other programs. Fourth & Hope additionally operates Walter’s House, a 30 bed residential treatment program that gives clients the chance to work towards recovery from addictive behaviors before transitioning back into the community.
“The services Fourth & Hope offer really make a difference in people’s lives,” said Yolo County Public Defender Tracie Olson. “Homelessness can be short-term or chronic, but it’s always debilitating. I’ve seen countless clients get back on their feet because of the services offered by Fourth & Hope.”
All items for donation may be dropped off at the Yolo County Public Defender’s Office, located at 814 North Street in Woodland, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. For more information, contact Yolo County Public Defender Tracie Olson at (530) 666-8167.
