North Hollywood Man Charged with Stealing from Elderly Victims Seeking Mortgage Modifications

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 29, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — A 29-year-old North Hollywood man has been charged with bilking three elderly women out of more than $50,000 while claiming to help them get a mortgage modification, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.<span id="more-3452"></span></p> <p>Jovanny Malka (dob 9/14/85) is facing six felony counts: three counts of theft from elder or dependent adult exceeding $950 and three counts of grand theft of personal property exceeding $950 in case PA083477.</p> <p>Malka is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch.</p> <p>Between April 2012 and November 2013, the defendant reportedly claimed to help fix the mortgages of three women ages 67, 69 and 72. He then kept the money, prosecutors said.
