FULLERTON, CA – January 17, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Morningside, the award-winning continuing care retirement community in Fullerton, Calif., has completed a $2 million expansion and renovation of its Lakeview Hall, lake and surrounding courtyard features.  The renovation of Lakeview Hall, which serves as Morningside’s community center for major events, theatrical productions, musical entertainment and dances, doubled the hall’s original size of 4,500 to approximately 9,000 square feet.

The new Lakeview Hall features the Wellness Center, a large, professional stage and green room, built-in movie theater speakers and digital recording equipment, a game room for poker and other card games with a 65-inch television screen for Wii and watching sports, a kitchen area, computer lab with wireless internet, outdoor loggia with built-in sound, lighting and seating walls, and an inlaid dance floor for the community’s popular dance nights.

Morningside’s Wellness Center, consisting of the Oasis Spa and Fitness Center, was also expanded to accommodate the latest in health and fitness.  The Wellness Center offers a large fitness area with flat screen televisions and a separate luxury spa featuring logoed robes, facials, steam room, relaxation/meditation room and massage rooms.  The center provides direct access to the outdoor swimming pool.

Morningside’s lake, a central focal point for the community, was also redesigned to feature more natural-appearing boulders and plants, two new waterfalls and enhanced landscaping including a gingko tree forest.  Walking paths and a meditation bench overlook the waterfalls and landscaping.

According to E. Justin Wilson, III, executive vice president of CoreCare III, the on-site Morningside partner, the expansion and renovation were carefully designed to incorporate the wishes of the residents.

“We solicited a great deal of input in the beginning of this process to make sure the residents had a chance to express their opinions on the renovation,” Wilson said.  “For the past 19 years, Morningside has set the standard for retirement living.  The renovation is the latest sign of our commitment to always lead the way when it comes to healthy, active aging.  We look forward to our grand opening and to celebrating this exciting time for our great community.”

KTGY Group Inc. of Irvine, Calif., was the architect for the project, with INTERSPEC of San Diego providing interior design services.  Culp Construction Co., based in Irvine, was the general contractor for the building expansion, with Cook & Solis Inc. of Escondido, Calif., serving as the contractor for the lake renovation.

Originally opened in 1991, Morningside’s campus-like setting encompasses 34 acres bordered by Bastanchury Road and Brea Boulevard in Fullerton, with 11 acres designated as permanent open space.  In addition to Lakeview Hall, the Wellness Center and the lake, the community offers elegant dining rooms, library, two clubrooms, billiards room, activities room, cocktail lounge, a soon-to-be remodeled beauty salon, guest apartments and an outdoor patio dining area overlooking the lake.  Other outdoor amenities include a swimming pool, nine-hole putting green, croquet court, bocce ball field, horseshoe pit, formal rose garden, expansive lawns, gazebo, resident gardens and a greenhouse.

Morningside of Fullerton includes 327 independent living residences (including duplex and single-family villas), a large commons building, all the above described amenities, and an adjacent, state-of-the-art health center featuring a 54-unit assisted living residence and a 99-bed skilled nursing center.  For more information, please call 800-499-6010, 714/529-2952 or visit www.morningsideoffullerton.com.
