SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ — The WMA Foundation announced today that members of the Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association have collected and distributed nearly $90,000 to uninsured residents of three manufactured housing communities in Southern California displaced by the recent fires.
These devastating fires burned approximately 250 mobile homes in the following communities: Valley Oaks Mobile Ranch (Fallbrook), Oak Tree Ranch (Ramona), and Barrett Lake Mobile Home Park (Dulzura).
“I have spoken with many mobile home residents who lost their homes to the Southern California wild fires and their stories are just heartbreaking,” said Sheila Dey, Executive Director of WMA. “I’m proud of the generous response made by WMA members who have stepped forward to help the residents of these affected communities.”
Rebuilding the damaged portion of the mobile home communities that were lost due to the wild fires will take several months. Electrical utility systems, for example, will have to be completely rebuilt because of the extent of the damage to transformers and underground lines.
The WMA Foundation is a California public benefit corporation, established in 2005 for the purpose of enriching the quality of life for all persons living in manufactured housing communities in California who are disadvantaged due to income or circumstance. The WMA Foundation sponsors educational seminars, provides financial assistance for the improvement, restoration or replacement of existing manufactured homes, disseminates informational materials and provides community outreach services.
