Man Who Barricaded Himself in Santa Monica Apartment Charged with Murder

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 12, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — A 28-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge that he killed a man outside of a South Los Angeles hamburger restaurant, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.<span id="more-3073"></span></p> <p>Deputy District Attorney Steven Gates said David Carrillo (dob 6/8/86) entered the plea to one count of murder with an allegation that he used a knife to commit the murder in case YA092058.</p> <p>Carrillo is due to return on April 21 to Department 5 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Inglewood Branch. Carrillo was charged on Feb. 24.<br /> Carrillo is accused of fatally stabbing Wesley Morejon, 30, with a folding knife outside of the fast food restaurant on the 8900 block of Vermont Ave on Feb. 10, the prosecutor said.<br /> The defendant was arrested on Feb. 21 with the help of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s police dog after he barricaded himself inside a Santa Monica apartment for nearly five hours, the prosecutor added.</p> <p>Carrillo faces a maximum possible sentence of life in state prison if convicted as charged.</p> <p>Bail is set at more than $1 million.</p> <p>The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.</p> <p># # #</p> <p>About the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey leads the largest local prosecutorial office in the nation.
