Anthony Glen Gorospe is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in state prison when he returns to Los Angeles County Superior Court in Long Beach, Department S20, on April 14 in case NA092748.
Deputy District Attorney Geoffrey Lewin with the Crimes Against Peace Officers Unit is handling the case.
Gorospe admitted opening fire on a city inspector and a cleaning crew who arrived around 8 a.m. on July 5, 2012 to begin cleanup. His home in the 6100 block of North John Avenue had received several code violations.
Firing from inside his front door, Gorospe hit the city inspector near the left eye. The inspector, 51, lost the use of that eye, Lewin said. Gorospe also pleaded no contest to two counts of assault on a peace officer with a semiautomatic firearm for shooting at officers while he was barricaded inside his home for seven hours.
The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
