SAN DIEGO, CA, 12/12/2007 – Rex Downing & Associates, a leading real estate firm, and interior decorating firm, Fine Living, announce their donation to the Step-Up Program from the proceeds of the Kensington Holiday Home Tour, which they co-sponsored. The charity event was held over two days with elite Kensington homes professionally decorated for the Holidays. The beneficiary of the fundraiser is the Step-Up Program, which educates and empowers underserved Juniors at Hoover High School in City Heights with a goal of college graduation. Further information on the Step-Up Program may be accessed via: http://consensus.sdsu.edu/step-up.html.

Volunteers from the Kensington neighborhood, the event sponsors, and students of the Step-Up Program came out to help with the event and show their support for the Home Tour. The Executive Director of the Step-Up Program at the Consensus Organizing Center, Dr. Michael Eichler, says “It was wonderful to see all the support of the residents of Kensington for the hard working Hoover High School students.”

At the close of the Home Tour event, the proceeds raised for the Step-Up Program totaled $8,280.00, proving the success of both the event and the community support of the Step-Up Program kids. Rex Downing, with Rex Downing & Associates says, “It means a lot to us that we were able to raise so much money for a cause that benefits children in our own neighborhood. We are already scouting elite Kensington homes and expert designers to make next year’s Tour an even better event, raising even more money for local children’s charities.”
