HBANC Professional Women in Building Council Wins Four National Awards
At the recent International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, the HBANC’s Professional Women in Building Council won four national awards –for Membership Recruitment and Retention – 1st Place; for Member Services – 1st Place; and the coveted overall win- Council of Year 2008! The awards are each for $500 and total $1,500. The Council’s Treasurer, Linda Hebert, earned the fourth award in honor of her nomination as Woman of the Year!
The award monies allow the local PWB council to provide education or travel scholarships to both members of HBANC and women/men in the building industry, who wish to attend a college, university, or association trade designation class or associated program/event.
PWB’s 08 President, Beatrice Stonebanks, said, “All of our 11 committees played an integral role in this years’ success. Our Board of Directors stepped up to the plate each and every time with an unwavering commitment to solid results, as well as, the overall Women’s Council.
We hit a couple of grand slams this year, too- finally launching the nationally acclaimed “Homes of Our Own” program and creating an Educational Outreach Committee under which it is managed; also creating a Master Sponsorship Program for 2009 and beyond allowing the entire industry the opportunity to sponsor PWB events and reap the rewards of this powerful demographic.
Our council took on aggressive goals collectively, individually and within each committee, and then they set out to meet them. While we are very proud of the national-level awards, we are truly honored to give back to the communities in which we live and thrive; it’s what we do.”
