Program helps owners of historic properties pay for rehabilitation, restoration and more

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – August 25, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The City of Riverside is accepting applications through Aug. 28 for grants of as much as $25,000 that are available through the Historic Preservation Fund, which helps individuals, corporations, non-profit organizations and public agencies improve historic properties within the City limits.

In an earlier round of funding this year, the Historic Preservation Fund Committee awarded seven grants totaling about $130,000. The committee evaluated applications according to criteria approved for the program by the City Council.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Aug. 28. The committee is expected to announce grant awards at its Oct. 13 meeting.

The committee has discretion over whether matching funds may be required. Grantees are required to execute and record a performance and maintenance agreement to ensure the grant funds are utilized appropriately and that improvements funded by the grants are maintained long-term.
