WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 6, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — This week CHF|CIRB has released the December California Construction Review to subscribers. Overall, California has seen a 5% increase in housing permits from December 2011. Year-to-date permits have increased 22.46% from the same time frame in 2011, increasing from 47,336 permits issued between January and December 2011 to 57,970 total permits for the same time frame in 2012.

California’s private building activity is measured by building permits issued and building permits valuations totals.

  • Single family permits issued in December 2012 increased 5% from November 2012 and increased 28% from December 2011.
  • Multi-family permits increased 104% in December 2012 when compared to November 2012 and increased 12% when compared to December 2011.
  • Total units issued increased 48% in December 2012 when compared to November 2012 and increased 18% when compared to December 2011.
  • Residential valuations increased 33% from November 2012 and non-residential increased 12% when compared to November 2012.
  • Year-to-date permits have increased 22.46% from the same time frame in 2011, increasing from 47,336 permits issued between January and December 2011 to 57,970 total permits for the same time frame in 2012.
