California State Parks Seeks Public Input on the Land-Based Concessions at Angel Island State Park

-

TIBURON, Calif. – (RealEstateRama) — California State Parks will hold a public meeting on the future of the land-based concessions located at Angel Island State Park on Thursday, Aug. 17 in Corte Madera. The meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Corte Madera Community Center, 498 Tamalpais Drive.

Angel Island State Park, in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin Headlands and Mount Diablo. The park is only accessible by boat and includes hiking and biking routes, overnight facilities, and extensive day-use facilities. Angel Island attracts several hundred thousand visitors annually.

In an effort to better serve and enhance the visitor experience at this park, California State Parks plans to issue a Request for Proposals for a new concession contract through a competitive bid process. Input from the public meeting will aid officials in planning the park’s future facilities and operations. The new concession contract will continue existing Angel Island amenities such as food service, tram tours and recreational equipment rentals—it will also include the establishment of rustic cabins on the island.

What to expect at this meeting:

Overview of Angel Island State Park and California State Park’s concession process.
Summary of the existing components of the land concession.
Opportunity to provide input and discuss the future of land-based concessions on the island.
A summary of public comments provided on California State Parks’ website.
Additional information on the public meeting and reasonable accommodations are available by contacting Concessions Specialist Kevin White via e-mail or phone (916) 654-8924.
