CONGRESSMAN BECERRA ON THE PRESIDENT’S CLEAN POWER PLAN: EMBRACE CHANGE, EMPLOY SMART, BOLD INITIATIVES

Washington, DC – August 3, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement after President Obama announced his Clean Power Plan as a step towards ensuring the nation embraces sustainable wind and solar energy and cuts harmful greenhouse gas emissions:

“The time to address global climate change is now. The President’s Clean Power Plan moves our country forward to combat climate change by ratcheting down harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

“We have an obligation to protect our water, our air, and our environment: 2014 marked the hottest year on record globally and the consequences can be devastating. We need to employ smart, bold initiatives to keep America and its economic engines clean and fine-tuned.

“My home state of California has led the way in combating carbon emissions and committing to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Today’s presidential announcement takes us a step further by bringing the nation to the fore of the fight. Let’s continue our work both at home in California and from Washington to leave a better world for Americans today and our children tomorrow.”
