RKF BRINGS SEPHORA AND CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL TO MALIBU VILLAGE SHOPPING CENTER

Malibu, CA – February 2, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — RKF, the country’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing, investment sales and consulting services, has arranged two new leases on behalf of Sephora and Chipotle Mexican Grill at Malibu Village, the newly rebranded shopping center on the east block of Cross Creek Road between Pacific Coast Highway and Civic Center Way in Malibu, Calif.

Robert Cohen, president of RKF’s Southern California office, represented Sephora in the leasing of a 3,885-square-foot retail space at 3896 Cross Creek Rd. The building owner, DKR Malibu Village, LLC, was represented in-house. Anticipated to open in May, the beauty and cosmetics brand will cater to an affluent local and tourist customer base.

RKF Executive Vice President Rachel Rosenberg arranged a 2,050-square-foot long-term lease for Chipotle Mexican Grill at 3834 Cross Creek Rd. The building owner, DKR Malibu Village, LLC, was represented in-house. By opening in Malibu Village, Chipotle Mexican Grill will fill a void at the center for high-quality, fast-casual food and will be designed with a beach atmosphere in mind. The store is expected to open in June.

“These two national retailers saw the strength and vibrancy of Malibu as a dynamic retail market,” said Cohen. “With high traffic and an increasing tourism trade, coupled with the close proximity to Pepperdine University, Malibu Village provided the most ideal space for the expansion of these two recognizable brands.”

Malibu Village recently underwent a $4 million renovation of its façade and a significant rebranding that has brought a roster of notable new tenants to the market including Levi’s; Salvation, which features Nike, Hurley and Converse; Starbucks; Marmalade Café; Missoni, Lanvin; and Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone.
