Mary Peralta Named Program Manager of the USC Ross Minority Program in Real Estate
Torrance, CA – November 30, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The University of Southern California Ross Minority Program in Real Estate, a comprehensive continuing education program that trains real estate leaders in traditionally underserved communities, has appointed a new head of day-to-day operations.
Mary Peralta, a longtime staff member with the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, has been named program manager and oversees curriculum administration, student recruitment and admission, and the program’s community and industry relationships.
“Mary has a deep understanding of the Lusk Center’s broad educational and societal mission and the Ross Program’s goal of providing future real estate leaders with the finance and development training they need to truly make a difference in underserved communities,” said Stan Ross, head of the Ross Program and chairman of the Lusk Center board.
Lusk Center director Richard Green added: “We pride the Ross Program on being timely. Mary has shown an ability to support the program’s mission and make connections with prospective students seeking a better understanding of the real estate development process.”
Launched after the period of civil unrest in Los Angeles in 1992 and later expanded with a grant from Ross and his wife Marilyn, the program provides members of minority groups – as well as those who invest time and financial resources in emerging communities – with the skills to support the development of their communities.
Prior to joining the Lusk Center, where she has been an integral part of the center’s development and external affairs activities, Peralta worked at Livable Places, a non-profit affordable housing developer in Los Angeles. Peralta is a retired member of the U.S. Navy. She received her bachelor’s degree in clinical management from George Washington University.
