California Consultant Honored with Trina Ripley Excellence in Education Award

February 2, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Institute of Residential Marketing (IRM) named Manny Schatz, MIRM, CMP, CAPS, CAASH, the 2009 recipient of the Trina Ripley Excellence in Education Award. The award was presented to Schatz, principal of a builder consulting firm Professional Builder Services, Inc. in Danville, Calif., at The National Sales and Marketing Awards Gala held during the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas on Jan. 19.

The award was created in 1989 and named for Trina Ripley, who was instrumental in creating the IRM’s educational programs. The award is one of the most prestigious honors given by IRM. Ripley gave generously of her time, expertise and boundless energy to further the education of marketing and sales professionals throughout the homebuilding industry. This award is given annually by the IRM to an individual who exemplifies these attributes, and recognizes those who have committed extraordinary time and effort to IRM’s educational efforts, including instruction, course preparation and committee involvement.

“Manny’s contributions to the industry embody what this award is all about,” said Gaye Orr, MIRM, CMP, 2009 President of the IRM. “He has dedicated much of his career to helping others through education, mentorship and leadership, and we are pleased to present him with this honor.”

A member of NAHB since 1973, Schatz has been active within the organization at both the local and national levels. He serves as a Life Director of NAHB, and is a member of the California Building Industry Association, the Builders Association of Western Nevada and the North State Building Industry Association.

Schatz has done much with his involvement in NAHB, having previously served as a Chair of NSMC and as president of the HBA of Northern California. He is currently a trustee for both NSMC and the National 50+ Housing Council, and is a past trustee for the Institute of Residential Marketing, the Business Management and Information Technology Committee and the Commercial Builders Council.

One of his most recent contributions to industry education was his participation in a program by the University of Housing. Schatz represented IRM and NSMC as a panelist last fall on the Just in Time audio seminar “Beyond the Best Case Scenario,” which advised industry professionals on how to take advantage of the housing and economic downturn and position their companies for success.
